The Annual Barefoot Beach Bocce Ball Tournament
If you've spent any time on this site, you've heard me talk about the amazing social life that comes with owning Barefoot Beach real estate.
When I moved to Barefoot Beach in 1989 as one of the neighborhood's first residents, it was a bit of a ghost town. Over the years, though, the neighborhood has continued to grow and grow.
As that growth progressed, I couldn't help but notice how many of the new residents shared similar backgrounds and interests. Slowly but surely, Barefoot Beach became the center of a thriving social circle.
One of the things that helped bring this to fruition was the annual Barefoot Beach Bocce Ball Tournament. Now in its ______ year, it's brought residents together time and time again to enjoy drinks, food, socializing and of course bocce ball – all right from the comfort of the Beach Gardens. This post will tell you everything you'll need to know to make the most of the next Bocce Ball Tournament.
What Is Bocce Ball?
Let's start with the basics.
The game starts by throwing a small white ball, called the pallina, into the opposite end of the court (which is 10′ wide by 76′ long).
From there, the objective is simple – you take the 8 Bocce balls (larger than the pallina and divided between 2 colors, 4 for each team) and try to throw them as close to the pallina as possible.
The team or person who throws the pallina also throws the first bocce ball, with the other team throwing next. From there, whoever is farthest from the pallina goes next until either they're closer to the pallina or they're out of bocce balls.
Once all the bocce balls have been thrown, the scoring begins. The team with the bocce ball closest to the pallina is the only team that scores any points that round. They get at least one point for having that ball closest to the pallina, but if their next closest ball is still closer than the bocce ball of the opposing team that's closest to the pallina, then they get another point. That continues until the opposing team has a bocce ball closer than their next closest ball.
The game is won when one of the teams reaches 11 points, and you must win by 2 points.

How to Design the Perfect Barefoot Beach Home
When you're setting out to design a home in Barefoot Beach, whether it's via a simple cosmetic refresh, a renovation, or you're building from the ground up, there are a number of things you want to keep in mind.
Let's take a look at each in turn:
Smart Home Tech
This is without a doubt one of the biggest trends in Barefoot Beach homes right now.
Every year the technology gets better, and with it, the expectations of discerning buyers grow.
Developers and builders know this, so they've doubled down on making smart home tech a focal point of every new home.
Knowing this, if you're building a new home or renovating your current home, this is something you should insist on from your contractor. Even if you're not a fan of the technology personally, you need to keep in mind that not having it will make your home less competitive if you ever decide to sell.
